Marenco Beach & Rainforest Lodge What should I take?
For field wear, light weight cotton clothing including both long and short sleeve shirts, shorts and long pants, twice daily change of socks, beach wear and beach towel, sunglasses, light rain pancho and/or collapsible umbrella, toilet articles. Flashlight and extra batteries are very important. Small reading lamps-the kind that attach to your book and batteries are also recommended. Ordinary outdoor shoes or sneakers will do for most situations during the dry season. Rubber boots (inexpensive in Costa Rica) are recommended for the rainy season. Dress at Marenco is totally informal. A hat and sun-block are suggested for protection against the sun, especially during boat travel and while snorkeling. Arrival at Marenco and tours requires surf landings and launches so please bring plastic bags or other protective bags against water for your camera equipment and binoculars.

Our climate is warm and humid, as is proper
for lowland tropical rain forests. However, our hill-top location exposes
us to the slightest of sea-breezes, and Marenco is usually a very
comfortable place to be. The dry season is from January to May. The rainy
season constitutes the remainder of the year, but rain less and sunny days
can be expected in any season, sometimes for a few days at a time. Rains
are intermittent, so that activities and tours can be conducted at Marenco
throughout the year. Biting insects are almost never a problem but we do
suggest that you bring insect repellent.
