of the Birds of Rara Avis,
Costa Rica
checklist
of all bird species that have been recorded in Rara Avis so far.
The list was originally compiled
by F. Gary Stiles and Loretta Rosselli in 1988. Virginia Kennard updated
the original list in September 1996, using data collected between
October 1991 and August 1996. Special thanks go to Twan Leenders and
Ivan Samuels for their contributions to this project. In the last few
months we have observed 5 species of birds that are new to the area. An
updated version of our
downloadable
checklist is available at the bottom of this page. Our most exciting
find is the discovery of several Wing-banded Antbirds in the reserve.
This is the first record of this species in Costa Rica ever !
